The Cinema of the Avant-Garde — Hydra honours Thanasis Rentzis
The Cinema of the Avant-Garde — a two-day tribute to Thanasis Rentzis (1947–2025), one of the leading figures of experimental cinema in Greece, who lived his last years on Hydra. Founder of the film magazine FILM, teacher at the School of Fine Arts and a former director of the Thessaloniki Film Festival.
Where: talks and the exhibition at the Melina Mercouri Hall; screenings at Cine Gardenia.

- 17:30–19:00 — Panel discussion, with film critic Nikos Tsangarakis and director Panagiotis Rappas among the speakers
- 20:00 — Screening: Electric Angel (1981, 82′), introduced by photographer Dimitris Kechris
Sunday 11 October
- 10:00–10:45 — Screening: Fiction (1977, 43′), introduced by critic Christos Skylakos
- 10:45–12:15 — Panel discussion with writer Hercules Logothetis and filmmaker Eva Stefani
- 12:15–13:45 — Documentary: Thanasis Rentzis: The Alchemist of Images (2025, 83′), introduced by director Prokopis Dafnos
Exhibition: posters and covers of FILM, the magazine Rentzis founded and edited.
Organised by the Federation of Film Societies of Greece and the Hydra Cinema Club, with the Greek Film Directors’ Guild and the Panhellenic Union of Film Critics.
