Kodylenia's

Perched on a corner of Kamini's small harbour, this family-run taverna has a terrace that wraps around the building and hangs right over the water — every table looks out to the open sea, the local fishing boats and the mountains of the Peloponnese across the strait.

A famous sunset spot. Kodylenia's is one of the most celebrated places on Hydra to watch the sunset. As the light turns gold and pink over the water the whole terrace lights up, so it is worth arriving a little before sundown — order a drink or a few mezedes and let the evening unfold.

On the plate. The kitchen is proudly traditional Greek and Mediterranean, built around the day's fresh fish and seafood straight off the local boats — grilled catch of the day, octopus, shrimp and lobster — alongside classic mezedes, Greek salad and honest home-style taverna cooking. Simple, generous dishes, best enjoyed slowly with the view in front of you.

Follow the coastal path from the port toward Kamini (about 15 minutes on foot); the taverna sits just above the little harbour. Tel: (+30) 22980 53520.
