Kaminia Beach

Kaminia Beach

Kaminia is where Hydra town goes for a swim without really leaving town. It sits on the coast just below Castello, about 1 km (15 minutes) west of the port along the flat seaside path — one of the easiest swims on the island to reach on foot, and one of its prettiest walks.

Note that this is not the little fishing harbour of Kamini, which lies a few minutes further west: that is where the caiques and the tavernas are. The swimming happens here.

How to get there

About 1 km west of Hydra port — a flat 15-minute walk along the coastal path, passing Avlaki on the way. The Hydra–Kamini boat and the water taxis will also drop you a couple of minutes away.

Where to eat & drink

Castello is right here above the water. A few minutes further west, around the fishing harbour, are Kodylenia's and the Kamini all-day bar.

Facilities

Sunbeds and straw umbrellas are set out on the pebbles in season, and Castello is right above the water for coffee, food and shade. Bring water for the walk over.

Insider tips

Late afternoon is the moment here: the light softens over the channel and the walk back into town is at its best. If you want to carry on, the coastal path continues west to Vlychos, roughly another 10 minutes.
