Pavlos Kountouriotis Mansion
Above the western waterfront stands the mansion of Pavlos Kountouriotis (1855–1935), the admiral who led the Greek navy to victory in the Balkan Wars and later served as President of Greece — one more chapter in the extraordinary story of a single Hydriot family. The house is preserved as a historical museum, an annex of the National Historical Museum.
Rooms keep their period furnishings, paintings and personal effects, giving a rare look at how Hydra's great naval families actually lived. Combine it with the neighbouring Kanonia bastions for a short historical walk west of the port.
