A new hand-painted sign for Cine Gardenia
The beloved open-air Cine Gardenia has a beautiful new hand-painted sign — a labour of love made over the winter by friends of the island: Dimitris Fousekis, Andreas Horstmann and Maribe Lambert, created for Lakis and the Hydra Cinema Club that has kept the cinema alive for over four decades.
The sign was unveiled in June as part of the summer prelude on the island. In its swirling blue and its film-reel flourish, it captures exactly what the Gardenia has always been: cinema under the Hydra stars, made by hand and by heart.
