17th Hydra Shipping Conference

The Adelfotis Ydraion Athinon (Brotherhood of Hydriots of Athens) holds the 17th Hydra Shipping Conference on the island on Saturday 5 September 2026, 9:30–14:00, in the Conference Hall of the Cathedral of Hydra. This year’s theme:

«From Hydra to the World’s Oceans: Shipping amid the Thucydides Trap».

The conference continues Hydra’s living bond with Greek shipping — from the age of sail to the modern maritime industry — bringing together leading Greek shipowners, senior executives, advisors, academics and members of the island’s historic seafaring families. It is chaired by George A. Tsavliris (Tsavliris Salvage Group).

Panel speakers include: Georgios Sp. Alexandratos (Naftiko Epimelitirio, Apollonia Lines), Charalampos Simantonis (European Shortsea Network), Dinos Arkoumanis (Metropolitan College), Antonis Mavrakakis, Michael Bodouroglou (Allseas Marine), Dimitris Patrikios (V.Ships, Intertanko), George Pateras (Contships Management), Loukas Spiliotopoulos (5 Ocean), Michael Tsamados (UCL) and Stavros Hadjigrigoris (Advanced Engineering Services).
