Koundourioteia 2026 — honouring Admiral Pavlos Koundouriotis

Each summer the Municipality of Hydra holds the Koundourioteia in memory of the Hydriot Admiral Pavlos Koundouriotis — hero of the Balkan Wars and later President of Greece. Mayor Georgios E. Koukoudakis and the Municipal Council invite everyone to the 2026 events, 25–30 August.
Tuesday 25 August
- 20:30 — “Ten Years Without Tetsis”: a talk by director Panagiotis Rappas on “Tetsis and Hydra”, followed by a tour of the painter's house & atelier (Historic Mansion of Lazaros Koundouriotis).
Thursday 27 August
- 21:00 — Saronic Chamber Music Festival (“Melina Mercouri” Art & Concert Hall).
Friday 28 August
- 21:00 — Scientific evening: “Preconditions for a Sincere Greek-Turkish Rapprochement” (“Melina Mercouri” Hall). Speakers: Kostas Ifantis and Dimitris Triantafyllou (Panteion University); moderator: Georgios Koukoudakis.
Saturday 29 August
- 11:30 — Welcome of a Hellenic Navy ship taking part in the celebrations (Kastro tou Kavou).
- 20:30 — Ceremony naming Panagiotis Laskaridis an Honorary Citizen of Hydra (“Melina Mercouri” Hall).
- 21:00 — Keynote by Vice Admiral (ret.) Konstantinos Mazarakis-Ainian: “Pavlos Koundouriotis: the strategic mind of the Hydriot Admiral of the Balkan Wars”.
Sunday 30 August
- 10:30 — Doxology at the Cathedral of the Dormition.
- 10:45 — Reception of officials at the Historic Town Hall.
- 11:30 — Memorial service & wreath-laying at the Monument of Admiral Koundouriotis.
- 11:45 — Memorial at the Admiral's Tomb, with honours by the Hellenic Navy.
- 12:15 — Guided tour of the Admiral's Mansion.
- 13:00 — Official luncheon (by personal invitation).
- 20:30 — Inauguration of the Fishing Shelter at Kamini harbour.
- 21:30 — Island feast with Anna Morou and her orchestra, at Kamini harbour.
