The Windmill — Boy on a Dolphin

On the rocks west of the harbour mouth, above the swimming spots of Spilia and Hydronetta, stands the old windmill that starred alongside Sophia Loren in Boy on a Dolphin (1957) — the film that put post-war Hydra on the world's map and began the island's love affair with artists and film stars.

A bronze statue of the boy riding his dolphin stands nearby, and the spot has become the classic place to watch the sun go down over the Peloponnese. Five minutes' walk from the port, no ticket, open always.
