Μονή Κοιμήσεως Θεοτόκου — Καθεδρικός της Ύδρας

Right on the harbourfront, behind the famous marble bell tower that has become the symbol of the port, stands the Monastery of the Dormition of the Virgin — today the cathedral of Hydra. Built in the 17th century and rebuilt over the years, it wraps around a quiet marble courtyard that feels a world away from the waterfront bustle a few steps outside.

Inside the complex you'll find the Ecclesiastical Museum, with icons, vestments and relics from the island's churches, and memorials to Hydra's naval heroes. Step in for the courtyard alone — it is one of the port's most serene corners.
